Jewelry brand, Diagold, remains a paragon of grace and elegance as it achieved a momentous 15-year milestone in the industry. Distinguished guests and notable celebrities, who have observed the brand’s transformation over the years, gathered to partake in the anniversary celebration held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino on Aug. 10, 2023.
Top Filipino designers like Philip Rodriguez, Michael Leyva, Jun Escario, Jojie Lloren, Puey Quiñones and Cary Santiago put forth their stunning pieces from Diagold’s 15th Anniversary Collection.
Miss Universe 2015, Pia Wurtzbach, set the runway on fire in a Philip Rodriguez ensemble, igniting a red-hot spectacle that kickstarted the event. Amid the fiery red backdrop, the exquisite Diagold pieces held their own. Meanwhile, businesswoman and content creator Small Laude strutted the runway in a Cary Santiago creation, cementing her role as the latest ambassadress of the brand.
Promoting artistic excellence
In the next 15 years, the jewelry brand aims to continue to collaborate and support both established and up-and-coming fashion designers to foster a culture of creativity and innovation, while driving its growth and relevance in the ever-changing fashion landscape. But most importantly, the brand desires to contribute to the broader fashion community by inspiring and promoting artistic excellence.
“From its inception, Diagold’s vision was to create contemporary pieces that resonate with the modern Filipina and, tonight, looking at everyone in this room, I am reminded that this dream has become a reality and thanks to your steadfast love and support,” said chief executive officer Jennifer Ty.
Jun Escario’s talent in translating jewelry into sophisticated fashion was showcased in his collection. The designer blended two contrasting visions, one with muted tones and the other embracing vibrant jewel colors. He cleverly combined jewelry with elegant attire, adjusting necklines to make necklaces pop. The collection featured upper coats and evening gowns, embodying regal charm.
Michael Leyva revealed a bold departure from his past work, featuring sleek, sensuously charming designs. Clean lines and graceful silhouettes set it apart. With voluminous puff sleeves and long trains, he added flair and romance. Michael’s affection for Cebu, its people, culture and cuisine, remains at the heart of his creations. His timeless aesthetic envisions the designs’ allure enduring even 50 years down the line.
Jojie Lloren took on the iconic little black dress. Transforming the classic and versatile attire into a statement piece for various occasions, the collection showcased diverse silhouettes in an all-black ensemble. The collection’s distinctive charm was in its harmonious balance between the front and the back. While the jewelry-adorned front drew attention with its dazzling brilliance, the gown’s back held hidden surprises that captivated fashion enthusiasts.
Puey Quiñones displayed a mesmerizing collection that paid tribute to the vibrant essence of a Diagold woman. Each design reflected Puey’s keen understanding of fabric and its delicate interplay with the body, featuring drapery that feels organic, effortless and tastefully tailored to accentuate the fabric’s innate qualities, in harmony with the jewelry.
Celebrating 15 years of sensational fashion shows with Diagold Jewelry, Philip Rodriguez presented “Jewels of the Sea.” The collection drew inspiration from the captivating patterns of low tide ripples, skillfully translating their natural beauty into a blend of glamor, youthful energy and modern sophistication. Infused with the timeless allure of old Hollywood, Philip pushed boundaries by pairing two-toned taffeta fabrics in daring color combinations, showcasing his artistic innovation. The collection also gracefully incorporated elements inspired by corals and jellyfishes.
Cary Santiago’s Diagold 15th Anniversary collection is a tribute to the moon’s enchanting reflections on Moalboal’s waters in Cebu. This awe-inspiring sight sparked his inspiration to mark this brand milestone. Being part of Diagold shows since his return from the Middle East in 2007, Cary was thrilled to contribute to the celebration. Cary confidently embraced his favored color, black, recognizing it as the ideal canvas for his exquisite designs. Black holds personal significance, allowing him to craft high-fashion couture pieces that brilliantly showcase diamonds and colored stones against its deep backdrop.
