Players into the Glamour aspect of Final Fantasy XIV will undoubtedly have heard of the Taffeta set, the charming outfit pieces known for their attractive looks. To craft this set, players will need Taffeta Cloth, a material exclusively used for the Taffeta Shawl and Loincloth. Any end-game crafter job in Final Fantasy XIV will know that rare crafting materials will often require a fair deal of grinding with RNG rooted in the process. Taffeta Cloth is no different, with player Retainers being the only means of obtaining it.
To get Taffeta Cloth, FFXIV players must have their Retainers embark on Exploration Ventures, special missions that take 18 real-world hours to complete. After a Retainer finishes their Venture, they will receive a certain amount of XP and present the player with a random item. The item that the player will receive is entirely dependent on RNG; however, there still are few requirements for Taffeta Cloth to be a possible drop.

Taffeta Cloth in Final Fantasy XIV mainly comes from Retainer Field Explorations. In particular, players must send their Retainer on Field Explorations XIII or higher. For these Ventures, the Retainer should be at least Level 50 in their job with gear at an appropriate Item Level of 60 or higher. Some players have claimed that the Taffeta Cloth drop can also come from Waterside Exploration XIII and Woodland Exploration XIII. However, remember that it is mostly up to chance with what items are obtained from Retainer Ventures in FFXIV. Alternatively, players can get Taffeta Cloth from the Market Board, but its price could be costly, depending on the server.
To increase one's luck of getting Taffeta Cloth, players should focus on leveling up their Retainer to Level 50 or higher. The fastest way to level a Retainer is by sending them on Quick Explorations. These only take one hour to complete; however, they provide less XP but still cost Ventures x 2 like the 18-hour Explorations. The easiest method of farming Ventures is buying them using Grand Company Seals. Using Quick Explorations to level up Retainers quickly is only recommended for players who have the wherewithal to farm Ventures and check up on their Retainers frequently.
Once players obtain Taffeta Cloth, they can use it to make the Taffeta Shawl and Taffeta Loincloth. Below are the recipes for each item. Bear in mind that the player must be at least a Level 50 Weaver in Final Fantasy XIV and have a minimum Control of 318.
